Header name
The chat window opens with your name at the top. That line is the last thing a customer reads before deciding whether to hand over their phone number, so it should be the name they recognise from the rest of your store.
By default it is exactly that: your store name, read live from your theme. Rename your store and the chat header follows, with nothing to update here.
Earlier versions of the app built that title from your myshopify address instead. If your address is one Shopify generated — something like xk4p92-7t.myshopify.com — customers were reading “Xk4p92 7t”. That is fixed for every store, and no setting was needed to fix it.
- Open Appearance → Chat window.
- Leave Header name empty to keep using your store name. The field shows it underneath so you can see what customers get.
- Type something else only if you want something else there — “Support Team”, a shorter brand, the name of a product line.
- Save. The header changes on your storefront immediately.
Common questions
I renamed my store. Do I have to change anything here?
No — as long as the field is empty. The name comes from your theme each time the widget loads, so it is already the new one. If you typed an override, that override stays until you change it.
My store name is long. Will it break the header?
No. A long name is shortened with an ellipsis rather than pushing the close button off the edge. If you would rather choose what gets cut, type a shorter name in the field.
What shows if my theme sends no name at all?
The header falls back to “Chat with us”. This is rare — it takes an unusual theme — but the widget never falls back to your myshopify address.
